Recap: New England vs. Philadelphia

Foxboro, MA (Sports Network) - Quintin Demps had a 101-yard kickoff return for a touchdown and DeSean Jackson returned a punt 76 yards for a score as Philadelphia rolled by New England, 27-17, in preseason action.

Donovan McNabb completed 13-of-17 passes for 180 yards and a TD for the Eagles (2-1), who finish their preseason slate on Thursday against the New York Jets. Backup Kevin Kolb threw for 106 yards on 9-of-14 completions.

Jason Avant added a touchdown reception and Brian Westbrook ran for 39 yards on nine carries for Philadelphia.

Matt Gutierrez threw for 217 yards and a pair of touchdowns on 14-of-20 completions for the Patriots (0-3), who end their preseason schedule by facing the New York Giants.

New England starter Tom Brady did not see any action. Backup Matt Cassel threw for just 60 yards on 8-of-14 passes.

C.J. Jones hauled in three balls for 70 yards and a score, and Chad Jackson also had a TD reception.

Philadelphia got out to an early lead on David Akers' 24-yard field goal on the game's opening drive.

Avant's seven-yard TD catch from McNabb pushed the lead to 10-0 early in the second.

Stephen Gostkowski booted a 35-yard field goal to put the Pats on the board, but on the ensuing kickoff Demps outraced the pack for his score and a 17-3 Philly lead. DeSean Jackson later added his punt return for a score and the Birds led by 21 points at the break.

Akers booted another from 24 yards in the third quarter before Chad Jackson and Jones caught touchdown passes from Gutierrez in the fourth.
